This Dance Life post goes to a young woman who I was pleasantly surprised to learn is a fierce dancer: Kat Graham. Best known for her role as Bonnie Bennet on the CW’s The Vampire Diaries, this 24-year old beauty is SO much more than that television show. After one night of random Youtube browsing, I came across her “Sassy” music video and became obsessed with her sound, style, and undeniable energy as a performer. As I continued to look out for her performances and radio interviews, I became such an admirer of her fearless approach to her art.
Not to mention, I had no idea that she started her career in entertainment as a backup dancer! She performed behind superstars like Missy Elliot and the Black Eyed Peas when she was a young girl.When Kat released her EP Against the Wall back in 2012, I instantly gravitated to “Put Your Graffiti On Me”, an uptempo dance track with intoxicating instruments and high energy. She performed the song live at SXSW, which truly convinced me of her unbelievable talent as a performer. Her commitment to the choreography makes you want to learn some eight counts and get your life! Plus, the cherry on top of this performance is seeing Perez Hilton directly in front of the stage enjoying the song just as much as Kat.
